Recognizing excellence

The Society for Pedagogy, Information, and Media e.V. (GPI), a scientific professional association for multimedia, educational technology, and media didactics, has been awarding Comenius accolades since 1995. With the establishment of the Comenius EduMedia Awards, the GPI, in its fourth decade of operation, primarily promotes pedagogically, conceptually, and artistically outstanding didactic multimedia products.

The GPI typically awards the Comenius accolades for exemplary educational media to publishers or institutions responsible for developing, producing, and distributing the media product. The Comenius accolades are honorary awards and are generally not accompanied by financial grants for the recipients.

Exceptional Educational Multimedia

Annually, the Comenius Awards, including the “Comenius Seal” and the “Comenius Medal,” are bestowed for didactic multimedia products. Additionally, the jury has the authority to grant Comenius Special Awards and Comenius Promotion Awards.

The Comenius EduMedia Awards recognize outstanding ICT-based educational media across all educational sectors, application fields, and content areas. These media may be presented as CD-ROMs, DVDs, online offerings, or hybrid formats, as well as authoring systems, networks, or platforms designed for educational purposes. The Comenius EduMedia Awards can be conferred upon outstanding multimedia products from all countries in Europe and around the world.

Comenius EduMedia Medal is our highest recognition in the field of digital didactic educational media.

Contributions that meet all quality and testing criteria receive the Comenius EduMedia Seal.
Contributions that best meet the criteria of the announced topic receive the Comenius EduMedia Special Thematic Award.
